Witch Hat Cookies

Jackson's classroom Halloween party is today and our contribution to the menu are the cute witch-hat cookies! A coworker recently turned me onto Pinterest (much more on Pinterest in another post) and I'm so glad she did--it's quite addicting! I found this cute idea there and decided to make these for the party. All it requires is Fudge Striped Cookies, Orange decorating icing and Hershey Kisses; how simple is that (no baking)!! The cookies were a big hit and I was super glad to have a cute, easy idea the kids (and parents) could enjoy!

Trick-or-Treat: Round #2

If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time you know that we practically LIVE at the Birmingham Zoo--by far, the best membership we've ever gotten. Well, each year there is an event during the month of October called "Boo at the Zoo" and we dare not miss it! The boys love the carousel (although, it rotates backwards for Halloween, not mine and Ray's favorite), the train and exploring the event for goodies. We had a great time, as we do each year....
A quick pose for the camera....
Enjoying the row of goodies inside the Trails of Africa....
Another quick pose for mommy....
Ready to head home so we can enjoy our treats!

Trick-or-Treat: Round #1

My office has a Trick-or-Treat event for employees to bring their children to the office for trick-or-treating (how AWESOME is that!) in the hallways of each floor topped off with cupcakes, cookies & juice boxes in our training room. The boys were beyond excited. Here are a few photos of how much fun they had on their first of several outings this Halloween!

Cookies for the Cure

The boys' daycare is having a Breast Cancer Bake Sale today in honor of a sweet office worker that has been battling breast cancer. Ms. Kim is a very sweet, nurturing woman and to be honest, I did not even realize she was batting this disease until Ms. Gwen planned the Walk for the Cure and Bake Sale in her honor. I asked Ms. Gwen if we could contribute to the sale by making these and she was very happy with the suggestion (and the boys were SUPER excited to get to help in the kitchen)!
With the help of their daddy, the boys mixed....
and flatted the cookie dough....

Daddy cut the dough into strips & shaped it into ribbons (I know, how AWESOME is he!!)....
and I made them look pretty for the bake sale!
After cooling overnight, I bagged into into plastic baggies and Macklin helped with the clean up! The kids are donating the proceeds from their bake sale to the Susan G. Komen For the Cure Foundation in Ms. Kim's honor!!!!

Container LOVE

I'm certain I've mentioned this before, but Halloween is one of my FAVORITE holidays! I love pumpkins, gourds, spiders, and all there is to do with decorating for Halloween (the candy isn't so bad either)!!! Sadly, I didn't do a lot of Halloween decorating this year--I may do a little more before the week is over in anticipation of all the trick-or-treader's, but I doubt it. So, in order to satisfy my need for all things Halloween, check out all the awesome containers I found....great ideas for next year!!

A Whole Lotta Pumpkin Goin' On

Yesterday, I was lucky enough to get to go with Macklin and his class to the Pumpkin Patch in Clanton, Alabama. I must admit that at first, I was not the most excited with this excursion. Don't get me wrong, I love the pumpkin patch and spending time with Macklin--he's a lot of fun. However, he is in a very clingy stage right now (our theme song is "Stuck Like Glue"--Sugarland) and I was sure that he would pitch a royal fit when it was time for me to say good-bye. Much to my surprise he was the best kid EVER! We had so much fun playing, running, looking at pumpkins, rolling in the hay, riding the covered wagon and we enjoyed a picnic lunch together. Isn't it great how just when you think you know your child, they surprise you; I'm so glad he did. I had an absolute BLAST and I have so many great pictures from our pumpkin patch trip that I had a hard time deciding which one's to use in this post--check out all the fun we had....
Macklin ran all over the place while waiting for his classmates.
Macklin LOVED petting and feeding all the animals--especially the PIGS!!
Riding the pony was his FAVORITE activity of the day!
He loved all the beautiful pumpkins.

Enjoying our covered wagon ride down to the Pumpkin Patch!
Taking in all the beautiful scenery!
It was a fun, pumpkin filled day!!
