Ready for Big School
The title of this post is how Jackson feels about Kindergarten--me, not so much. I know it's a great milestone and that he's going to have so much fun and GROW UP so fast, but I couldn't get out of that cute library and away from all that paperwork fast enough! Mostly because I knew I was about to loose it and cry like a baby and I didn't want all those women to think I was a crazy person!! Also, because as I was sitting there working on all his forms, I started remembering all his baby moments and I realized those were gone, we will now start to have big boy moments! I think that's the part I'm the most sad about. I remember holding him in the hospital and never wanting to put him down. I remember bringing him home and starring at him for hours just watching him sleep (and leaning down to make sure he was breathing). I remember him walking with his laughing lion for the first time, him saying his first word (ball) and all the other things that go with becoming a mommy and watching your little one grow. Now, he's embarking on this new adventure and although yes, I am sad, I am also happy too. Happy for him. I know he's going to meet some great new friends and learn so many new things and Kindergarten is so much FUN! He's ready, now I just have to get myself ready!!

School Christmas Parties
The boys have been pretty excited about their room Christmas parties, mostly because there are cupcakes and candy of some sort involved they get to ingest quickly and multiple times! I was THRILLED this year that we donated money to a party fund and the teachers handled the rest--THANK YOU PRECIOUS TEACHERS! Here are a few pictures of all the fun!
Jackson's Class enjoying "The Night Before Christmas" during story time
Macklin's class singing "Jingle Bells" during Christmas carols
Macklin entranced by his train stickers from Santa; Jackson's classroom wish list to Santa

A Whole Lotta Pumpkin Goin' On
Yesterday, I was lucky enough to get to go with Macklin and his class to the Pumpkin Patch in Clanton, Alabama. I must admit that at first, I was not the most excited with this excursion. Don't get me wrong, I love the pumpkin patch and spending time with Macklin--he's a lot of fun. However, he is in a very clingy stage right now (our theme song is "Stuck Like Glue"--Sugarland) and I was sure that he would pitch a royal fit when it was time for me to say good-bye. Much to my surprise he was the best kid EVER! We had so much fun playing, running, looking at pumpkins, rolling in the hay, riding the covered wagon and we enjoyed a picnic lunch together. Isn't it great how just when you think you know your child, they surprise you; I'm so glad he did. I had an absolute BLAST and I have so many great pictures from our pumpkin patch trip that I had a hard time deciding which one's to use in this post--check out all the fun we had....
Macklin ran all over the place while waiting for his classmates.
Macklin LOVED petting and feeding all the animals--especially the PIGS!!
Riding the pony was his FAVORITE activity of the day!
He loved all the beautiful pumpkins.
Enjoying our covered wagon ride down to the Pumpkin Patch!
Taking in all the beautiful scenery!
It was a fun, pumpkin filled day!!

Let the Party Begin
Last week was Christmas party week at the daycare. I love getting to see all the kids have fun, eat sugary treats and celebrate Christmas. Our daycare is a church daycare and I am so thankful we chose it! The boys learn so much I could never teach them (Spanish, sign-language, swim lessons, etc.) and it is a very nurturing, Christian environment. I'm embarrassed to admit that we've mostly done "church on the couch" the past few years and I feel really terrible about it. One of our life changes for 2011 is to find a new church family--we are very excited! Here are a few pictures of the boys enjoying their classroom Christmas parties:

Stitches
Yesterday was not such a good day for the Carle family! Unfortunately, Jackson got hurt at school and Ray & I had to take him to the ER for medical treatment. He did very well but I can say that mommy was not prepared for this experience, not at all!
Around 9:45 am, I get a call from the daycare that there has been an accident and that Jackson needed medical care. I ran out the door and called Ray on the way to the car and luckily, he was able to go with me to the school. We arrive to a crying, scared and hurt little boy who has a large gash on his forehead.
We scoop him up and head out the door to the ER. Surprisingly, Jackson is very calm and the gash isn't bleeding profusely. He gives us his little version of what happened and we tell him that the doctor is going to fix his boo-boo and he'll be just fine. We arrive at the ER, get checked in and settle on a spot for what is sure to be a long wait to see the doctor.
During our wait, Jackson does very well, talking, singing, and making little jokes with his daddy. I, on the other hand, feel somewhat nauseous as I am certain that awaiting him behind those large doors is a very big needle and some stitching. As we finally get called back for vitals, paperwork, and a room I can feel the nausea setting in--I am not prepared for this.
Once we're in the room, Jackson discovers the medical gloves and wants to try on a pair. He plays with those and talks some more about his boo-boo. After a bit more waiting, the doctor arrives for treatment and her name is Dr. Rutherford. Ray and I look at each other in amazement when she introduces herself. The name Rutherford is significant to us because that was our dear toy Pomeranian's name. Rutherford had to be put to sleep almost 9 months ago and we miss him very much.
Dr. Rutherford is very sweet and she began to explain to Jackson how she was going to make his boo-boo all better. She gave him the option of blue or black stitches, he chooses the blue one's, and she leaves the room to gather reinforcement for what is to come, the dreaded needle and stitching.
After what seemed to be an eternity, Jackson is all stitched up and ready to go. It took a doctor, two nurses, mommy and daddy to hold him down and it was agonizing! He was given a red "hotsicle" for his bravery and we are released. We hung out at home the rest of day, enjoying more hotsicles, "banilla" ice cream, a sucker and McDonald's for dinner. Hopefully, we'll avoid a stomach ache from all the goodies and the return to school will be uneventful, for the both of us!
