Bend It Like Beckham

Friday we took the boys to the park to kick soccer balls and then had a yummy pizza at Area 41 Pizza in Mt. Laurel. I know most parents probably believe their children are bound to be the next big athlete but when I tell you Jackson has mad soccer ball skills, I mean he has mad soccer ball skills. He can be the next Beckham if he wants but I'd hope for no tattoos and that he opt to wear more clothing! Macklin is still trying to find his coordination but I think it will come soon. I'm so glad we started our weekend enjoying the wonderful spring-like weather!

Tips for Redecorating

With our house almost ready for the market (pictures forthcoming), I wanted to give you some quick redecorating tips I've found useful the past several weeks. I've put several to work for us and I think they have made a huge difference in the before and after.

Have fun with them by mixing and matching patterns with solids in order to create contrast. picture courtesy of Southern Accents Dress up plain curtains with trim or ribbon. You can trim the sides, stitch it straight through the middle or create a color block at the bottom to add length. It will help provide unity in your space and give you custom curtains without the heavy price tag! picture courtesy Better Homes and Gardens Add color and interest to any space with mirrors and picture frames. This is one of my "go to" methods for creating interest in a space. You can use spray-paint to add color to mismatched frames. Combine different shapes and sizes of frames to spice it up a bit! And, you don't have to use photographs--you can print inspirational quotes or use your initial--simple and fun! picture courtesy of Cottage Living Turn your ottoman into a coffee table--top it off with a cute tray, some flowers, books or even kids toys. It helps make the room feel lived in and cozy!

Weekend Roundup

Do you think the Birmingham Zoo would let us move in? We could just provide security watch at night and we wouldn't take up a lot of space--I mean, we're smaller than elephants, giraffe's and tigers!! I say this because in typical Carle family fashion, we made our weekend trip to the Zoo. We took three train rides, two carousel rides, and visited the Alabama Barn (where Jackson tried to hold a snake!). During one of our train rides Ray and laughed about how there was this entire area at the zoo we never get to see--our boys are creatures of habit!! Here are a few pictures from our visit--even a picture of our newest zoo friend, a 13,000 lb, 29-year-old African born elephant! I am quiet certain our zoo trips will increase tremendously this spring and summer!

Happy President's Day

Yesterday, our daycare was closed for President's Day/Teacher Training so I had the boys all to myself. With all the crazy weather this year, our daycare had been closed quiet often. To say that it has been challenging being off from work to keep the boys would be an understatement--especially since I don't have vacation or sick days. However, I've decided to start looking at this situation quiet differently and relish in the fact that (1) I have a great job that I love, (2) we are all healthy and able to chase each other nonstop, and (3) I get to spend time with the most precious little boys EVER! We played with trains, read dinosaur books, watched a few cartoons and enjoyed a nice visit to the park--check out how much fun they had....

Thank you God for giving me the opportunity to stop and enjoy these little miracles for a day! It was FABULOUS!

Weekend Roundup

Our weekend was AWESOME! Ray and I had the chance to have an evening out on the town and we had a wonderful time. A friend of Ray's invited us to attend the Phoenix Ball at The Club Friday night. At first, we were a bit apprehensive as it's a black-tie optional event but the more we thought about it, they more excited we got to actually have a night out. We are so glad we went. We enjoyed some time with new friends and we didn't smell like chicken nuggets, fish sticks or milk--ha, it was FABULOUS!!

Saturday, we enjoyed a nice day at the Birmingham Zoo. In line with our usual routine, we road the train and carousel twice,visited the petting zoo and got an animal treat as we left for the evening. Much to my surprise, Jackson picked out the most realistic snake I have ever seen and already, I've almost fainted at it's sight in his room--NICE!! I also went to the Giggles and Grace sale at Ashbury United Methodist Church, took some items to Wee Peat Boutique, and got some much needed grocery shopping done. Our Sunday was filled with menu planning for the week, a quick trip to the park, laundry and church on the couch (I'll explain that to you another day)--it was a wonderful weekend!

Happy Valentine's Day

Tonight we'll be celebrating at home making a yummy dinner with the boys--exactly how I like spending my Valentine's Day!
