Bend It Like Beckham

Friday we took the boys to the park to kick soccer balls and then had a yummy pizza at Area 41 Pizza in Mt. Laurel. I know most parents probably believe their children are bound to be the next big athlete but when I tell you Jackson has mad soccer ball skills, I mean he has mad soccer ball skills. He can be the next Beckham if he wants but I'd hope for no tattoos and that he opt to wear more clothing! Macklin is still trying to find his coordination but I think it will come soon. I'm so glad we started our weekend enjoying the wonderful spring-like weather!

Happy President's Day

Yesterday, our daycare was closed for President's Day/Teacher Training so I had the boys all to myself. With all the crazy weather this year, our daycare had been closed quiet often. To say that it has been challenging being off from work to keep the boys would be an understatement--especially since I don't have vacation or sick days. However, I've decided to start looking at this situation quiet differently and relish in the fact that (1) I have a great job that I love, (2) we are all healthy and able to chase each other nonstop, and (3) I get to spend time with the most precious little boys EVER! We played with trains, read dinosaur books, watched a few cartoons and enjoyed a nice visit to the park--check out how much fun they had....

Enjoying the swings!

Kicking the ball, running and hiding!

Thank you God for giving me the opportunity to stop and enjoy these little miracles for a day! It was FABULOUS!

Weekend Roundup

Our weekend was AWESOME! Ray and I had the chance to have an evening out on the town and we had a wonderful time. A friend of Ray's invited us to attend the Phoenix Ball at The Club Friday night. At first, we were a bit apprehensive as it's a black-tie optional event but the more we thought about it, they more excited we got to actually have a night out. We are so glad we went. We enjoyed some time with new friends and we didn't smell like chicken nuggets, fish sticks or milk--ha, it was FABULOUS!!
Saturday, we enjoyed a nice day at the Birmingham Zoo. In line with our usual routine, we road the train and carousel twice, visited the petting zoo and got an animal treat as we left for the evening. Much to my surprise, Jackson picked out the most realistic snake I have ever seen and already, I've almost fainted at it's sight in his room--NICE!! I also went to the Giggles and Grace sale at Ashbury United Methodist Church, took some items to Wee Peat Boutique, and got some much needed grocery shopping done. Our Sunday was filled with menu planning for the week, a quick trip to the park, laundry and church on the couch (I'll explain that to you another day)--it was a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Roundup

For us, the weekends tend to evolve around the boys and lots of child friendly activities and let me just say, this weekend was no exception! We managed to do some trick-or-treating, a little holiday shopping, some gameday cooking, had a visit with Grammy & Poppy and we enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at the park! Friday we picked the boys up from school and headed straight to the Birmingham Zoo for "Boo at the Zoo". We do this event every year and the boys were very excited! Jackson could hardly wait to be a dinosaur and mommy could hardly wait for Macklin to dawn his bat costume. The boys (all 3 of them) enjoyed the scary train ride (twice), the spooky carousel and lots for Halloween fun! Saturday, Macklin and I met my good friend Becky and her son Leo for some holiday shopping at The Market. Are we crazy for attempting such with an 18 month old and a 2 year old, you ask? Why, not at all. Surprisingly, the boys were really great and we had a wonderful time checking out all the merchandise. We even scored an AWESOME pair of cowboy boots for $33. Yes, you read that right, $33. I can't wait to introduce you to them! Saturday night we cooked a amazing meal of pork tenderloin, roasted vegetables, potato pancakes and margaritas as we watched the Tide take on Ole Miss for homecoming. We marinated the tenderloin with a product I got at The Market called "Hot Squeeze" and it was absolutely yummy! The game was good and although it was not a glamorous win but we did manage to pull it out, 23-10! We topped the weekend off on Sunday with a visit from Grammy & Poppy. The boys enjoyed riding on the "race-car" (that's Jackson's term for the golf cart) and an afternoon trip to the park. The swings and the slide were a big hit until the ice-cream truck arrived--I've never seen a playground clear so quickly! They enjoyed their ice-cream and we headed home for dinner, bath-time, story-time and prepared for the school week ahead--it was a great weekend! Pin It

A Lot of Catching Up to Do

I know--I have been absent for some time now but after having lunch with my dear friend Kristin today and visiting her blog, thefamilyfields.blogspot.com, I decided it's time to get back in the swing of things. Life has been crazy--upcoming baby (8 weeks and counting), construction of a media room and 5th bedroom in our house, husband had hip replacement surgery, mother-in-law came to town, Jackson is teething and we're attempting to potty train, painting nursery for new son & Jackson's "Big Boy" bedroom, shopping for furniture--you name it! But, I've never been one for excuses and I know my friends that blog are just as busy so, I'm making an effort to do better. I have a lot to catch you up on, projects and funny family stories so I'll be posting like a crazy woman the next few weeks! Picture: Jackson and daddy playing at the park--PRECIOUS!!! Pin It
